Beloved Mom, Aunt, and friend to many, Olive Lewis Batchelor (nee Plank) went to be with her heavenly Father June 4, 2025 in the dedicated care of the team at Stanford Senior’s Village in Parksville, BC. Olive was born September 15, 1934 in Woolwich, UK to father Ernest Plank and mother Grace Plank. She survived the 1940/41 Blitz as a child in London and her and her family were forced to move after being bombed out of their family home. Eventually they relocated to the Coldharbour Estate in Eltham along with brothers Bernard, Keith, Gordon, and Clive and sisters Pat (Pansy), Elaine, and Sylvia. During that time she met Trevor Batchelor and were married August 16, 1958. After Trevor’s Naval service was done and several moves around the south of England, the couple took an offer from the Government of Manitoba and emigrated to Canada with sons Neil and Timothy. She never looked back. She and her little family arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba in September, 1967 just before one of the more memorable winters in the city's history. Characteristically, she learned fast. She went on to raise her two sons and several foster children and relocated with her husband through several moves from Manitoba to Alberta and finally retiring in Qualicum Beach BC after a career as a Library Technician with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History from the University of Lethbridge. She was an avid reader all her life and loved singing and poetry.
Olive was predeceased by her husband Trevor Batchelor (December 3, 2018). She is survived by sister Sylvia (Malcolm) Ramsay and brother Clive Plank, Children Neil (Shirley) Batchelor, Timothy (Margaret) Batchelor, Grandchildren Jonathan Batchelor, Jeffrey (Karen) Batchelor, Stephanie (Aaron) George, Nicholas (Jenna) Batchelor, Jennifer Batchelor, and Marcus Batchelor, and Great Grandchildren Malcolm George and Rose George
