

Born in Nanaimo in 1928, moved to Cumberland about 1935 with his parents and siblings, George, James and Kathleen. His father got transferred from Nanaimo to Cumberland with Dunsmuir to work as a track layer in #5 mine. Bob attended Cumberland Public School from 1935-1943. About 1945 he started in the logging industry.
Bob was well known in the logging industry as the best grapple operator. Started at the age of 17 for B.C. Forest Products, Elk River Divison, and worked for various logging companies, including Van West Logging, Royston, Argonaut Mines, Campbell River, Comox Logging, T & D. Carter for over 25 years, Chemainius and ended his career at age 65 working for Coulson Logging, Port Alberni, helicopter logging.
Bob was a true outdoors man and sportman. Best known for his steelhead fishing in the Oyster River, Puntledge River, Tsable River, Upper Campbell River, and the Stamp, Port Alberni with his long time buddies Bud Carwithen, Sacht and Nick Strussi, and Alvin Davis. Fishing for sockeye in Port Alberni, salmon fishing at Kitty Coleman, Campbell River, Rivers Inlet, Comox. He cherished the times spent with his good friend Bill Harmison trout fishing up at his cabin at Comox Lake. He loved to teach guys to fish steelhead and salmon fishing. He love to go hunting for grouse up at Comox Lake, behind Mount Washington. Moose hunting in Vanderhoof area. Caught his first elk at age 80 in the Woss area. He knew Comox Lake, Campbell River areas very well. One of Bob's passions was his gardening. Up until last year he still wanted to grow tomatoes, beans and zucchini to give away to family and friends.
He was a proud member of the Cumberland Fire Department from 1955-1960. He loved competing in their competitions.
He is survived by his wife Joan, son Michael and the love of his life his granddaughter Ryann. Numerous nieces, their families, and a extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents Alexander Letsos and Florence Blank. His brothers George, Jim and his sister Kathleen. Also his step brothers Butch Thomas , his wife Mary and Alan Thomas.
We would like to thank the 3rd floor staff at North Island Hospital; Home Care Workers ; Staff at Raven House, at the Views; and especially Home Support Staff for having everything in place to bring Bob home.
He will be sorely missed by his family. Rest in peace.
