My deepest sympathy and condolences to Aunt Suzie, Maureen, Chris, and Marissa.  I spent my early youth living in and going to school in Toronto and I will never forget the Sunday afternoons I spent with the Quinlan family at their home in West Hill.  Uncle A loved to barbeque no matter how cold or snowy it was and had perfected the art of keeping his grill against the patio door always clear of ice and snow.  He was working on his accounting degree while I was working on my engineering degree, so we would often debate about which profession was more important.  I was treated just like family including helping around the house and the occasional babysitting duties which I enjoyed.  For the seven years I was in Toronto, I saw his children grow from small children to preteens and then to teenagers.  The one thing I remember the most was there was a lot of love and kindness around that family.

My condolences to Alex's family.  I worked with Alex at Markham District High School from 1988- 1999.  Alex always very friendly, and had a kind word for everyone to whom he came in contact with.  Alex you can continue teaching Science to the angels.  RIP, kind gentleman.  Rose Goodwin

Dear Suzanne and family,  Alex was a dear colleague of mine in the science dept. at MDHS for over 10 yrs. His smile and joy filled our prep room as he got supplies for his chemistry labs.  The students (and staff!) looked forward to his big-bang lab, making water from 2 gases and looking for evidence in the ceiling. Safety rules were strictly followed by his students as he taught just how important it is to do chemistry carefully. There was so much fun in classes and with us as we prepped and worked. Always helpful, especially to a rookie teacher. I will treasure remembering Alex.  Sincere condolences to all your family at this difficult time, Armi (Anne) Kuhlberg

I would like to express my condolence to the Quinlan family. I had the opportunity to work with Alex in the Science department at MDHS. Alex was a very bright man and was kind enough to share some of his knowledge of physics with me as a young teacher. He was a proud husband and father, and often spoke about his family. I am sorry for your loss.

Some of my earliest memories include Alex. We used to live with Alex at Grandma's house when he went to University. When Grandma's house was annexed by St Ann's School, Alex and Grandma moved in with us. Alex was struck babysitting a few times. His mild manner was no match for 3 overactive boys. Good training for a (soon to be) substitute teacher. I was looking forward to seeing him at the 2015 reunion, but that was not to be. My sincere condolences to Aunt Suzie, Maureen, Chris, and Marissa.
