Skanes, Edward Gerald -- Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, cradled in his wifes arms and surrounded by his children and grandchildren on Thursday, September 12th 2013, at the age of 83. Survived by his beloved wife Shirley of 61 years. Loving father to Ruby Gates (Robert) of St. Petersburg, Florida, Pauline Babstock (Fred) of St. Johns, Newfoundland, Keith Skanes (Lilianne) of Burlington, Ontario, Russell Skanes of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Katherine Rowe (Bruce) of Oshawa, Ontario, Donna Barker of Brampton, Ontario, and Albert “Bert” Skanes (Yvonne) of Bowmanville, Ontario. Cherished Poppy to Christopher, Nicholas, Melanie Ducharme (Robert), April, Katrina, Cooper, Tarl, Sean, Nathan and Nigel. Dear Brother to Gordon Skanes (Millie), Mable Musgrave, Marjorie Norman, and Lillian Peach. Visitation will be held at the Courtice Funeral Chapel, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice, ON (905-432-8484), on Monday, September 16th 2013 from 2pm – 4pm, followed by the funeral service at 4pm in the chapel.
