Shirley, Shane, Wes and family:

We are just learning about Larry's passing now and are so sorry for your heartbreaking loss.  We have many fond memories of your family living across the street from us on Bridle Path.  Larry was a colourful character who always seemed to have mischievous smile on his face.  You could tell that his family was so important to him.  
Please know that you're all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

To my loving , forever husband, Larry William John Pennell, How blessed we where to have each other and still loved each other for 51 years. We loved each other FOREVER! You where always there for me! You encouraged me and made me stronger and confident!
I miss you for sure and I feel you around me constantly.  Until we meet again, enjoy life in Heaven. You are free  from your struggles and pain now. You deserve to rest easy.

I appreciate all the time you put into caring for us and teaching us all you knew.  Almost every day since you left us I am reminded of you.  I hear you in our every day routines and we are still listening for your advice and tips. 
It hurts deeply to think I will never see you again  but I know you will always be apart of us.  Your stories and lessons will live in us  and be a constant reminder thoughtout our lives. 
Your son's and grandchildren will carry your legacy and we will never forget the great man you were.

I'm a little late writing this but I hope you get the message. 
Larry, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart; for everything you have done for us, for all the love and support over the years, for always being there for us no matter what. For all your worries you had to go through being by our side.  I know we were not always easy but you never hesitated and always stuck by us.
Most of all, thank you for accepting and believing in me. I was grateful you felt I was good enough for your son, even knowing I was a single mom with a four year old daughter. You took us in as your own. Right from the start we felt your love and loyalty to family. We were at home with you. 
I love how you loved your family so strongly.   I loved to see your deep love for your wife. Your relationship was truly inspiring.   I loved to watch the love and admiration for your sons and the way you cherished every moment with your grandchildren. You were a man's man but  had no fear of telling us or showing us how much we meant to you. 
I always felt your love.  And I Thank you for how you always made me feel important.  You and Shirley always came to see me on my days off.  I enjoyed all your visits short or long and looked forward to them all.  You guys are not only my family but my friends too. 
Larry, you amazed me.  You knew everything! Your knowledge and wisdom was mind blowing.  You were like an encyclopedia. Better, more like you were my own google nest.  I'd just say, " Hey Larry " and you could tell me anything i needed to know. How, who, what, when, where and why? 
You were so creative and artistic.  Your gardens and home were always immaculate.  I could eat off the floor of your garage even, unbelievabley incredible at everything you do.
The crafts and games you created with  the kids were always so entertaining and unique.  You always had the kids intrigued and living in a fairtale. The kids were so lucky to have spent so much time with you.

I will always have such fond memories of doing crafts and working on school projects with Uncle Larry in the kitchen. He was so artistic and always so good with me. We would spend hours cutting, pasting, drawing, and creating. He was so patient and caring and I will always cherish this time we spent together. 

 You will be deeply missed Uncle Larry. We love you and rest easy until we meet again.

Uncle Larry,

You truly were an inspiration to me and my brother when we were growing up. Definitely the coolest uncle we had, With a love of automobiles and motorcycles. It definitely helped pave the way for me growing up with the same love for cars and bikes and wrenching on things. I just wish I would have made time to see you when I was grown up. I wish I could have talked about life and cars with you. I truly admired you, And even though I never got to see it in person. I followed you through that entire process of building that 37' Ford Coupe. Every post Aunt Shirley posted to Facebook I throughly enjoyed looking at.

I'm going to miss you. Most of all, I'm going to miss that I lost the opportunity to really know you.

I recently learned your middle name was William, like mine and my son’s—a connection I cherish. Thank you for inspiring our daughter’s name, Andrea, and for the lasting impact you had on my life.

It was never hard to say it but I hope you heard it enough.
Thank you Dad,
because now I have had time to remember so much that I thought I had forgotten.
I remember tobogganing and Go-Karts and first bike rides.
Bikes, custom bikes.  Big wheels, custom big wheels... Home made go carts, cars, trucks and motorcycles.
From day one you showed us how to fix, build and, of course clean everything and anything.

One man's junk is another man's treasure and you could turn a lump of coal into a Dimond.

You saw value where others couldn't.
I remember you teaching me to throw, "ball behind your ear" and all the years of coaching.
It wasn't just us who you enjoyed to teach.  
Coaching baseball, being a cub scout leader or that there was always a friend or a neighborhood kid in the garage learning from your seamlessly endless knowledge of so many things..

A Jack of all trades... and you were a master of many of them.

Thank you for always being there whether we were seeing eye to eye or not.
It was not always easy for us to get along and I thank you for never turning your back on me.
Whether it was a panicked all nighter for a school project that I neglected to mention... lol
Or a rescue for a broken down vehicle,
You were always there no matter what.

We never had trouble saying it but I hope you heard it enough.
You've made me everything that I am and I am grateful for every bit of it.
I am glad that you are now at peace and your suffering is over.
I am grateful that you were able to leave this life in a peaceful manner. 
You have a lot to be proud of and I am grateful that you we able to sit back on your porch with all that you created in front of you... 
You gave us a good shot at life and I am doing it for your grandchildren just like you showed me.

Rest in Peace Larry you really fought a hard battle my friend you were amazing husband to my sister and a wonderful father to your boys you worked hard all your life to provide them with a good home now you can see your first born son Jake and spend time with him until you meet Shirley and the boys again so rest up love ❤️ always Juanita

I have known Larry since he first picked up my sister Shirley for a date at our home in Scarborough.  Larry was kind and often took me along with them on their dates. He introduced me to my first drive in movie which was so fun for me. I would spend time with them at their first apartment on Birchmount and tag along on drives etc.  He never  treated me like a kid which I so appreciated. I watched Larry grow into a wonderful husband to Shirley and father to Shane and Wesley. Larry was wonderful to my daughter Paige and would sit with her and do crafts and art. Paige loved spending time with Uncle Larry. I will always remember Larry working on my 1973 Camaro and completely redoing the bodywork when it rusted. Larry was in his element while working on cars. Rest easy Larry. I am happy you are free from the crippling disease you endured these last 13 years.

Our family is deeply saddened at the passing of Uncle Larry.  He cared deeply about his nieces, and always took time to tell me how proud he was of my accomplishments. I’m so lucky to have an uncle who always made me feel special. We love you uncle Larry & will miss you very much.

Tony and I are so sad to hear about our brother-in-law Larry’s passing. We will certainly miss him. He’s been a big part of our family for many years when he met my sister Shirley when she was only 18 years old. 

She fell in love with him right away. They worked hard together and created a beautiful life together with two amazing sons Shane and Wesley. 

When I met Larry for the first time and we shook hands, he stepped on my toe. We laughed so hard and always joked about that over the years. He loved the song “Don’t let the Sun Catch You Crying” and loved to dance at weddings and parties. 

Rest in peace now. You are away from your suffering. You will always be in our hearts and memories. 

We will keep a good eye out for your beautiful wife and support her in every way.

Shirley, I will be think of you, Shane and Wesley on Saturday when the Celebration of Life takes place for Larry.  Know that Larry will be looking down and filling your hearts with courage and strength.  Wish I could be there 🙏

Larry became part of our evenings, most summer nights. We would walk down the street with our dogs and see Larry coming out side to sit.  We always stopped by to chat, be it for 15 minutes or longer.  My wife and I would come and sit  with Larry and Shirley and just loved chatting and laughing with them both.  We missed them in the winter and always looked forward to seeing them in the spring. Larry’s off the cuff no filter mouth always made  it entertaining and I will miss him dearly.

I will always remember our 'summer' walks, when Tim and I would stop by almost every evening with our dogs, to chat with Larry and Shirley.  Handing off the leash to Larry, and plunking my butt down beside Shirley, and just talking about anything, and sharing a laugh....  I will miss you, my friend.  RIP Larry...   xo xo

I only met Larry in the last few years of his life, but i found him to be a down to earth person and with his health struggles, he was a true inspiration to others, not to let issues get you down.R.I.P.

Shirley and Family. I am so sorry you have lost Larry. I will always remember the time and effort that went into his beautiful red car. While it is very sad to have lost your husband and dad, it is the good memories that will get you through your loss.

We were sorry to hear that Larry had passed away.  It has been a pleasure to have gotten to know Larry as I sat with him and his wife Shirley at Tim’s.  I enjoyed our time together.  We grew up in the same area and shared some of the same experiences growing up.  Larry will missed,   Praying peace and comfort over his family and friends.
