Shirley Mason

Cherished mother of Carl (Suzanne), Paul, and Perry (Carol). Loving Grandma of Rebecca, Shannon, Brooke, Jorgia, and Arllis.

She was predeceased by her parents Howard and Jean Hoskin, sister Anna-Marie Greentree, brothers Gordon and Gary Hoskin, sister-in-law Joan Hoskin (Metcalfe) and brother-in-law Douglas Greentree, and her former spouse, Elgin Mason.

Shirley was one of ten children and will be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters: Kenneth (Mary) Hoskin, Betty (Charlie Durno) Greentree, Jack (Carol) Hoskin, Donna (Bryan) Smith, Joanne Harper, Joe (Lois) Hoskin, sister-in-law Linda Hoskin and brother-in-law Neil Greentree. She will also be missed by her uncle Doug (Marilyn) Love and aunt Muriel Hoskin, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother. She had a great sense of humour and enjoyed her family and many friends. During her working days, Shirley worked in school cafeterias where she was appreciated and loved by the many students that visited the lunch rooms. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time at the family cottage at Crowe Lake.

Shirley has shown amazing strength as a cancer survivor over the past twelve years coping with the after effects of her many treatments. Special thanks to the caring staff at The Wynfield (Oshawa) who have been Shirley’s caregivers for the past eight years.

Visitation will be held at the Courtice Funeral Chapel, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice, ON (905-432-8484), on Saturday, July 12th, 2014 from 1pm - 2pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm.
