Robert A. Chairez was born on September 24, 1946 and passed away peacefully on July 14, 2013. Preceded in death by his parents Encarnacion and Lupe Chairez, Robert leaves behind his wife Cynthia "Becky" of 44 years, two sons Jim and Ron, two granddaughters Lilia and Julia, three siblings Paul, Margie, Linda, 2 sister-in-laws Rita and Susie, 4 brother-in-laws Abbey, Tom, Louie and Jamie, his mother-in-law Bea along with many nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.
Robert was born in Riverside, California and lived in El Monte but soon would move to La Puente. Robert was a 1964 La Puente High School graduate and lettered in Football, Baseball and Wrestling. Robert was named "Best Dressed" in his senior year and continued that honor throughout his life.
Robert was a member of Local 300 where he worked construction right out of high school and would continue after serving in the military. Robert retired from construction after 29 years.
Robert was proud to have served in the United States Army were he was deployed to Vietnam in 1967. Robert was very honored to have served his country and proved it by the stickers on his truck and a hat that he wore.
In 1966 Robert met Becky and they were married and purchased their home in West Covina. His greatest achievement was his family. Bobby was very proud of being a husband, dad and grandpa. As a husband Bobby valued his role as a great provider always placing the needs of his family first. He would also extend his knowledge of construction to anyone who needed help; friends, family etc. But most of all, Bobby was happiest and most proud when he was with Becky or his love name to her aka "Moco's" Together making their house a home and taking time for each other.
As a dad, Bobby loved and cared deeply for his 2 boys Jim and Ron. He was dedicated and took time to spend with them. From coaching baseball, endless camping trips, fishing and "Boys" only trips, family was at the top of his list. Communication with his boys was important, even if they didn't always agree. Dinners at the Chairez home was a must! All members had to be present, especially for Nascar racing. #24
As a grandpa Bobby eased into his role without any hesitation. He loved being 'grandpa". Julia and Lilia were his pride and joy. He played games, charades and watched his granddaughters grow up. He valued every moment. They loved their grandpa and their memories of him are loving memories that will never be forgotten. Bobby, father, brother, son, husband, grandpa and friend you will always be in our hearts until we meet again. Love you always. Thanks for the memories!
