Ernest M. Posner Jr.

Ernest M. “Pete” Posner, Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on February 28, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 27, 1932, in New Orleans, LA to Elizabeth Simmons Posner and Ernest M. Posner, Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice Shepherd.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Jackie Posner; his children, Donna P. Derenbecker (Billy), E.M. “Pete” Posner (Shelby), John H. Posner (Cindy); his grandchildren, Billy Derenbecker, Jr., Traci DiVincenti, Matthew Posner, Luke Posner, Jennifer Snow, and Jonathan Posner. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.

Pete enjoyed nothing more than being with his family and attending activities for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved fishing and hunting. A favorite time for him was at the hunting camp with his sons, grandsons, and their friends. He shot a deer at the age of 91 and was still catching fish at 92. Time spent with dear friends was very special to Pete.

Pete served in the Coast Guard for 3 years during the Korean War. He was Sales Manager at Sysco Foods for over 40 years. Pete lived in Metairie for 53 years before moving to Madisonville.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Stahls and his staff, St. Tammany CCU and the St. Tammany Hospice Program as well as Chris who cared for him at home.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive in Covington, LA. 70433 on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
