July 6, 1950-December 8, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Greg Gilchrist, a man of boundless energy, brilliant intellect, and an infectious zest for life. Greg left this world peacefully on December 8, 2025, at the age of 75, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength.
Born in Washington, D.C., on July 6, 1950 to Wayne Richard Gilchrist and Mildred “Millie” Ray Gilchrist, Greg’s early years were shaped by his father’s diplomatic career, which took the family to fascinating corners of the world, including Spain and Cuba. These experiences instilled in him a lifelong curiosity and adaptability.
A retired engineer in the power-generation industry, Greg approached every challenge with precision and ingenuity. Later in life he found equal success as a realtor and investor, guided always by integrity and an uncanny ability to see potential where others did not.
On the tennis court and the golf course, Greg was a force-competitive yet gracious, known for insisting on the “strict rules of golf” with a twinkle in his eye and a quick one liner at the ready. His powerful serve and steady putter were matched only by the warmth and encouragement he offered friends and opponents alike.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Millie and his brother Steve Gilchrist.
He is survived by the great love of his life, his wife Linda Stafford Gilchrist, whose partnership of 37 years brought him immeasurable joy; his stepson Blake Talley (Gigi); his beloved grandchildren Tobi Talley (Collin Gelpi) and Wyatt Talley; a wide circle of friends who were truly family to him.
Greg lived with perseverance, laughed often until tears flowed, and loved without reservation. His wisdom, humor and generous spirit will live on in every life he touched. Rest easy Papa the court is quiet, the fairways are still, but your light shines on forever.
