Kathleen "Kat" (McCrossen) McClannahan went to heaven to live with her parents Robert H and Una Mae (Mullen) McCrossen, her brother Michael, sister Maureen “Mickey” (Tony Monjure) and her son Billy, Jr.
Kat is remembered for her kindness and generosity toward everyone she met. Kat truly lived the verse “If you did it for one of the least of these you did it for me.” Matt 25:40. She retired after a long nursing career caring for newborns at East Jefferson General Hospital and the children in the Jefferson Parish Head Start Program – she really loved the kids. She also worked as a hospice nurse caring for patients and families at their most difficult time.
She is survived by her children Patricia Dale Poche (Rene), Kelley Barber (Richard) as well as her grandchildren Steven Poche (Katharine), Madeline Poche (Cody), Andrew Smith, Joshua Warden (Corille), John Keenan III (Kyleigh), and her great grandchildren Zachary Lagrange, Cheyenne Keenan, and Eloise Poche.
Her beloved pet Scout carries on her irascible nature – woof, woof, woof – to remind us she and all those we love are still with us in spirit.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church 3368 Esplanade Avenue New Orleans, LA 70119. Interment to follow at St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery #2 1950 Soniat Street, New Orleans, LA 70117.
