

Norman Robert Brennecke, age 86, of Mandeville, LA, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. He was born on January 24, 1937, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Robert A. Brennecke and Emerine (Linder) Brennecke.
He is survived by his sons, Doug Brennecke and David Brennecke; his three grandchildren, Nicole Funkhouser, Jennifer Brennecke, and Collin Brennecke; as well as a great-grandson, Bennett Funkhouser. He is also survived by his brother Alan Brennecke and sister Arline Stephens.
Norman married his beloved wife, Marlene (Rief) Brennecke, on October 18, 1958. She precedes Norman in death, having passed away on June 19, 2021.
Norman attended both the University of Cincinnati (where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity) and the University of Missouri (Rolla), earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at RCA, Emerson Electric, BDM, SRI, E-Systems, and Raytheon until he retired at 60.
During his life, Norman lived in St. Louis, MO; Cincinnati, OH; Fort Lee, VA; Cinnaminson, NJ; Huntsville, AL; Kettering, OH; Rockwall, TX; and Mandeville, LA.
As a 37-year resident of Rockwall, TX, Norman was an active volunteer at the Knights of Columbus and the YMCA. He was also an enthusiastic genealogist, traveling extensively with his late wife and father-in-law to Germany and Europe, documenting and presenting his findings at family reunions. Earlier in life, Norman introduced his children to the Great American Road Tour, taking several family vacations to New England, Canada, Florida, and the western United States. Norman and Marlene were also active in square dancing and clogging.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 3, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church (1305 Damascus Rd, Rockwall, TX), with Fr. Seán Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Rest Haven Cemetery (2500 State Highway 66 East, Rockwall, TX). A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Rest Haven Funeral Home.
