

Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Linette Cucinello Granen; his children: Lauren Taylor (Jeremy) and Emily McGee (Patrick); and five grandchildren: Hunter, Liam, Audrey, Trevor, and Ben. He is also survived by his sisters, Stepheni Granen and Rebecca Lawson (Wayne), and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Betty Granen, and brothers, Alvin Blaine and Patrick Granen.
Although born in New Orleans, Rick’s father’s military career moved the family to several parts of the world, including the Philippines, Italy, Morocco, and Guam. He also lived in California, Louisiana, and Florida, graduating from Forrest High School in Jacksonville. Rick attended the University of Guam, where he played football, and ultimately graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in Business Administration. His work career included positions at several departments at Louisiana State University, as well as at the University of Arkansas and Mississippi State University. He retired in 2021 from the LSUHSC Cancer Center, where he was the business officer for more than 15 years.
Rick loved playing baseball, basketball, and football while he was growing up. He enjoyed soccer and was a FIFA Soccer referee for 17 years, but his true joy was in watching his children and grandchildren play sports and excel in all of their endeavors. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and truly will be missed. Rick was one of those special people who made a positive impression on all those he met. His guiding principles were loyalty, integrity, respect, and an unwavering faith in God.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM with visitation on Friday beginning at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden Cemetery.
