On October 2, 2023, Bonita (Bonnie) Carden went to heaven to meet her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family that loves her. She suffered from Alzheimer’s and passed away at the Pioneer Care Center Wing in Meeker, CO. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Bobby Ray (93 yo) whom she has been married to for 43 years, who remains in the home. She has a surviving daughter, Vicky Martinez (Jim) of Rifle and a son Michael Bruce (Kristie) of Craig. Preceding her were her son, Jimmy Joseph Bruce, Theresa Gertson, Eddie Carden, and Colleen Carden. Also remaining is a stepson, Glenn Carden of Moab Utah, a sister Lois Doss (Commerce City), a cousin, and several nieces and nephews. In addition there are several grandchildren: Rainbow Carden, Christopher Bruce, David Bruce, Heather Bruce, Corey Bruce, Ashton Dickens (Bruce), Stephanie Christiansen (Martinez), and Evan Martinez. Within that bunch of grand’s, there are also 17 great-grandchildren.
Bonnie loved God, her family, and her church and was always willing to help out anyone – family or friend, who had a need in life - whether from the food pantry or other. She worked voluntarily for the church as secretary for several years. Prior to that she was employed by Rio Blanco County in the Treasurer’s office and retired from there. Bonnie enjoyed serving people – if someone was sick she would always prepare meals for them. She had a true servant’s heart and people loved her. Bonnie and Bob liked to travel and take trips as well as listen to music and dance. They met at the Parents Without Partners group in Grand Junction at a monthly social. Bonnie will be forever missed and loved by those she left behind – yet we know she is in a much better place and without any more pain.
