
A celebration of Karl’s life will be held in the spring.
Karl Ray Huntsman was born one of five children to Lloyd R. and May Lucella (Juby) Huntsman on June 28, 1944 in Durango, Colorado. He spent his childhood in Durango and graduated high school there with the class of 1962.
Karl worked for Meadow Gold delivering ice cream. Karl also worked at the sawmill before leaving to work for Baroid for over 20 years. When he moved to Craig, Karl worked for the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office from 1982-2018. He also enjoyed volunteering for the Craig Fire Department & Search and Rescue. He held many positions while in these organizations. From chief of the fire department all the way down to treasurer. Karl also held positions at the state level for fire fighting.
Karl loved serving and meeting new people in the community that he loved. He was a member of the Craig Lions Club, Elks, Odd Fellows, Moffat County Fair Board and the Colorado Fire Fighters Association. Above all, he was a devoted father and loving grandfather who never missed his grandkids sporting events. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the Craig Community who had the privilege to love and know him.
Karl is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Lee (David) Reynolds of Steamboat Springs, CO and Tammy Condit of Grand Junction, CO; and two grandchildren,Courtney Reynolds of Steamboat Springs, CO and Austin Standifird of Grand Junction, CO.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elmer and William Huntsman; and two sisters, Mary May Harris and Virginia Jeanette Herrera.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Karl’s memory to The Moffat County Fair, in care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Ave., Craig, Colorado 81625.
