Our mother, Peggy Cisar, passed away December 8, 2023 at the age of 94. We will always remember our mother for the love she showed her family, a life of hard work, her generous nature, good advice, great cooking and the support she easily gave. Peggy Aline Clopton was born September 22, 1929, on a small farm near Lawton Oklahoma to Everett and Ruth Clopton. She was the first born to Ruth and Everett but was joined several years later by her brothers Ted and Jerry. Our mother always spoke fondly of her time in Oklahoma and growing up on a farm with loving parents. She had fond memories of her favorite pony Billie while her brothers ended up with an overweight Shetland pony named Dynamite. As a small girl she was expected to work hard and earned her first bike by picking cotton. Our mother attended a one room schoolhouse near Pumpkin Center until entering Lawton High School. Following graduation from high school, mother began working for Southwest Bell as a phone operator. In 1949 mother married John Schram. Not long after being married mom and dad moved to Ashland Kansas where they farmed and started a family. To this union were born three sons: Steven, Gary and Stanley. In the middle of winter, 1955, the Schram family moved to Craig Colorado to begin a new life. That new life was built around updating and expanding the Trav-O-Tel Motel on East Victory Way. After 17 years of marriage, mother and dad divorced. Mother keeping the motel. The motel was the first of many real estate investments made by our mother during her life in Craig. Mother married Al Gonzalez and together they built their dream house on the river. Mother and Al remained married until Als passing. During their time together they both worked and expanded their real estate holdings. There are many people in Craig who know our mother because, at one time or another, they may have rented one of her houses, rented a room at the motel or worked alongside her at the phone company. In the final stage of her life, our mother met and married, Walter Cisar. No one will forget the irony of a wedding of a couple in their 80’s being married by a priest the same age a Doogie Howser, who ended the ceremony by doing a Tebow kneel. Walt’s and mothers’ marriage lasted much longer than either expected and was a blessing to both. Our mother was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Ruth, her brother Jerry Clopton, son Gary Schram and grandson Spencer Schram. She is survived by her husband Walt Cisar, brother Ted Clopton, sons Steve and Stan Schram, grandsons Chris, Tim and Greg Schram, great grandsons Koda, Asher, Gavin and Hayden Schram and great granddaughters Sofie, Layla, Bowie and Tristan Schram. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023 at The Grant Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church. At mother’s request, she will be interred next to her parents in the Letitia rural cemetery located between Duncan and Lawton Oklahoma. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of Grant Mortuary.
