She was born June 1, 1934 in Moulton, Alabama to Zora Dee (Slaten) and Elmer Pettus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Michael Kisner and infant Mitchell; two sisters, Sue Pig and Geneva Pamson and two brothers, Earl Pettus and Allen Arnold.
Surviving are eight children, Diane (Bill) Edgar, Betty Luncsford, Jeff (Kris) Harris, Brenda (Eric) Besserer, Billy (Debbie) Harris, Lynn (Michael) Smith, Pam (Randy) Bohm and Kim (T.J.) Hendrick; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and her beloved dogs, Tinkerbell and Smoke.
Faye had worked at Nyman’s in Creve Coeur for many years. She loved spending her free time playing bingo with her children, scratching off her daily lottery tickets while hopefully winning. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and spending time with her dogs and birds.
She loved her incredibly large family, which ultimately became so big it was impossible to fit in any house or place comfortably for family gatherings.
An avid Cardinals fan, she loved to argue with anyone who had something different to say about her beloved team. Heaven gained a real firecracker of an angel. She never hesitated to speak her mind in any situation or cared what anyone thought.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Brock Winkler will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family asks those attending to wear red in honor of Dorothy being a huge St. Louis Cardinal fan. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be given to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
