

Born August 8, 1957 in Peoria to Harold Lee and Marla Jean (Camp) Simmons, he married Vickie Bohannan on May 22, 2004 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Gerri Lynn (Ralph) Denton of South Carolina, Mary Simmons of New York and Sarah Simmons of North Carolina; one son, Timmy Scott Bohannan of Springfield; three grandchildren; two sisters, Deb (Jay) Spann of Washington and Toni (Frank) Brown of Indiana; seven brothers, Warren (Lori) Simmons of Texas, Kirk (Barbara) Yates of Peoria Heights, Mike (Raelynn) Yates of Peoria, David (Marie) Yates of South Carolina, Danny (Emie) Yates of Florida, Tracy Steele of Marquette Heights and Tim (Kathi) Steele of Kentucky. Wayne also leaves behind many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Wayne worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville, retiring in 2017. He served in the United States Army.
He loved to be outdoors woodworking, fishing, and hunting pheasants and birds. He also enjoyed painting and listening to 70’s music. He was also a fan of the New York Yankees.
A gathering celebrating Wayne’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
