

He was born March 5, 1956 to Carl G. and Bea (Johnson) Stevens in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Christine and one niece, Sarah.
Surviving are two sisters, Barbara and Carolyn; four nieces, Karla, Kathleen, Hannah and Lucinda; one nephew, Joel; four great-nieces and five great-nephews.
John was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed frequenting the local VFWS and American Legions where he knew no stranger.
He worked at U.R.S. and was an Iron Worker for 20 years, retiring in 2015.
John was very independent and loved traveling, riding his Harley and collecting antiques. When he wasn’t traveling, John spent his time with family and friends, fixing John Deere lawn mowers. In his younger years, you could find him under the hood of a Chevy truck or car making it run faster. He liked good music and having a good time no matter where he was.
A gathering celebrating John’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
He received Christ on Friday December 8, 2023 and on Tuesday December 12, 2023 was carried away by angels to the arms of Jesus.
