Norma Lee Compton

Born November 19, 1930 in Montgomery County to William Earl and Lydia (Fricke) Tester, she married Bradley Gene Compton on March 12, 1952 in Peoria. He died October 10, 2014 in Creve Coeur. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, William L. Compton on February 18, 2012; one grandson, Scott Pierce; two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn (Charles) Pierce of Groveland and Diane (Wes) Stanley of Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada; seven grandchildren, Suzanne (Eric) Ferguson of Macomb, Bradley (Alisa) Pierce of Pekin, Joshua (Kendall) Stanley of Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, Jason (Nicole) Stanley of Groningen, Netherlands, Aaron (Kristin) Compton of Germantown Hills, Jonathan (Jodie Hawkshaw) Stanley of Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada and Kate (Kyle) Philbee of East Peoria and twenty great-grandchildren.

She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Compton of Washington.

A homemaker, Norma was devoted to her family and enjoyed reading and swimming. She was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Norma was a member of Bay View Baptist Church in Washington.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022 at Bay View Baptist Church in Washington, where the family will receive friends one hour before the service. The memorial service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Inurnment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield at a later date.
