Arthur Elmo Underwood III

December 20, 1962- October 19, 2023

Arthur E Underwood III, 60, of Cross Lanes went on to be with the Lord and his father on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Art was born in Bermuda to Elmo and Mary Underwood. Due to his father being in the Navy he got to live in Bermuda, Iceland, Italy, and several other places. He followed his father's footsteps and joined the Navy until he was medically retired in 1983. He came home and began his career for the United States Postal Service, where he worked his way up to an Electronic Technician until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Elmo Underwood Jr.

He is survived by the love of his life Rebecca Underwood of Cross Lanes, Mother, Mary Underwood of Melbourne, Florida. Children, Arthur Elmo Underwood IV of Huston, Alaska, Alycia Anderson of Nitro, Caitlyn Runion of Cross Lanes, James Underwood (Alexis) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Grandchildren Jacob Clark, Addison Runion, Allison Egnor, Greyson Runion, Bentley Underwood, many beloved cousins and cherished family friend, Frank Vital of Miami, Florida.

He enjoyed spending time with his best friend and wife, Rebecca. His children and grandbabies were the light of his life. Art was the true definition of a man, provider, father, and Papaw. We will never be able to fill the void of his passing, and nobody will ever be able to tell dad jokes quite the way he did.

Celebration of Art’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 26, 2023 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Pastor Seth Polk officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with Military graveside rites conducted by St Albans VFW Post 6418 and American Legion Post 73.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 6 until 8 Wednesday at the funeral home.
