

George Veres, Jr., 86, of St. Albans, passed away December 8, 2014 at CAMC Memorial. He was born August 10, 1928 in Henlawson, a son of George and Julia Kovach Veres, Sr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by first wife, Lois Veres, brother, Leslie Veres, and sisters, Anne Pegram, Olga Johnson, and Mary Langston, step sons, Michael Barker, and Timothy Barker. George retired from WV Steel after 40 years of service. He was a member of Washington Lodge #58 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, and Beni Kedem Temple. He was a US Army Veteran having served in the 11th Airborne Division. George managed the band “Gentlemen of Soul for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend that will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Wanda K. Veres, daughter, Pamela Hanshaw and her husband Jim, of St. Albans, sons, Michael Veres and his wife Donna, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Richard Veres and his wife Jacqui, of St. Albans, step-sons, Joseph Barker, and Stephen Barker and his wife Elizabeth, all of Seth, grandchildren, Melissa Thompson, Valerie and her husband Stu Leasure, Adam and Kevin Veres, Joey Barker, Stephen Barker, Adam Barker, Brandi Yusef, Benjamin Barker, and Katie Barker, great grandchildren, Alivia Yusef, and Madelyn Barker. Additional survivors include brother, Louis Veres and his wife, Anitra; sisters, Ruby Lipscomb and Ester Peterson and her husband, Pete; granddaughter, Jessica Means; great-grandson-Landon Thompson; and special nephew, Gary Veres and his wife, Brandi. Celebration of George’s life will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with Military and Masonic Graveside Rites to be conducted.
