He was born February 18,1949 in Charleston, the son of James Lawrence and Dolores Shafer Walker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step son Gregory Lee Staats, grandson Caleb Vance, and cousin who was like a brother David Walker.
Mike retired from Union Carbide, then did contract work for Matrix. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by loving wife of 31 years, Jaye, children Mikki Keller (Jeff), Monica Walker (Mikey), Mendi Meadows (Chris), Joshua Staats (Melissa), Casey Eskew (Zach), 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and one on the way, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Mike’s life will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Pastors Neill Shepherd and Jim Russell officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.
