

John Michael Harbert, 68, of Charleston, passed away April 2, 2015 after a short illness, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 5, 1947 in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Kenneth M. Harbert and Ruth M. Patton Harbert. After graduating from Nitro High School, Class of 1965, he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked at Union Carbide. Before retiring in 2013, he owned JMH, Inc. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and friends, woodworking, and spending time with family and close friends. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda Lemon Harbert; children, John M. Harbert, Jr. (Tina) of St. Albans, Joshua M. Harbert of Nitro, James M. Harbert (Pam) of St. Albans, Missi A. Bowman (Greg) of Hurricane, and WilliamE. VanCamp (Karlina) of Charleston; six grandchildren, Dakota Harbert, Tyler, Haley, and Ryan Bowman, and Karson and Barrett VanCamp; one brother, Kenneth M. “Joe” Harbert (Dena) of Elkview; one sister, Marilyn Byrnside (Denny) of Cross Lanes; brothers-in-law, Bob Lemon of Mt. Nebo and Bill Lemon (Karen) of Cross Lanes; three nephews; and one niece. Please come and celebrate John’s life on Monday, April 6 at 3:30pm at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, with Rev. Jarrold Lanham officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30pm to 3:30pm prior to the service. Following the service, a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Fairview United Methodist Church.
