

Rev. John F. Thompson Sr., age 90 of St. Albans WV, a faithful servant of the Lord, transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was a graduate of Garnet High School and the pastor of Zion’s Hill Church Of God for 30+ years. A board member of the National Association of The Church Of God, a member of West Virginia Ministers Association, a member of the Church of God Missionaries of the state of West Virginia and recipient of the West Virginia Foster Parents of the Year Award. As an accomplished auto painter he worked at Joe Holland Chevrolet, C&O Motors and retired from Allen Lucas Motors. He was preceded in death by his parents John C and Alice M Thompson, daughter Patricia Thompson all of St. Albans, and siblings Lewis Thompson, Canton, OH; Mary Wells, St. Albans; Phillip Thompson and Linda Kyle, both of Chicago IL. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Eva Thompson and children, William (Sherry) Thompson, Columbus OH; Roxie Geiger, St. Albans; John Thompson Jr., Houston TX; Robert (Sharinyce) Thompson, St. Albans; Barbara (Gamal) Jackson, Greenville SC; Jessica Calhoun (Lawrence), St. Albans; and Kathleen Booker Thompson, Charleston. He is also survived by siblings David (Staisha) Thompson and Jean Busby both of Canton OH; sister-in-law Daisy Thompson, Chicago IL and a host of grand children, great-grand children and great-great grand children, along with a host of other relatives.
Viewing for the public will be held Monday December 28, 2020 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home at 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Due to covid-19 restrictions, a private Home-going service for the immediate family will begin at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.dignitymemorial.com.
