

Dr. Karen Lisa Asher, age 67, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 14,2025. She was born on August 14, 1957 in Cordele, Georgia, the daughter of James and Miriam Mason. She graduated from Perry High School, Ashland University, The Ohio State University, and Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Karen practiced medicine for 29 years. She felt blessed to care for patients in West Virginia, Ohio, and Sierra Leone, West Africa. She always loved OB/GYN and women's health and working in Sierra Leone gave her an opportunity to help those communities through this passion. The wide range of communities that she served gave her a unique empathy and molded her into the great physician that she was. Karen was an avid traveler and a life-long learner. She was very artistic and loved painting, stained glass, jewelry, ceramics, and making arts and crafts.. She loved teaching art classes and sharing her gifts with others.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Earl Asher, daughter Miriam (Mimi) Dora Doerrler, sons Marc Eric Asher and Matthew Thomas Asher and granddaughter Victoire Capri Asher. She was a member of Oak Ridge Wesleyan Church in Largo, Florida. If you wish to give a memorial, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to our mission W.A.E.M.M.
