Laura Carte Pieper-Hart

Laura Carte Pieper-Hart, a strong loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother that was the center of the family, passed away on October 26, 2017 at the age of 77. Laura was born in Charleston and raised in Fayette County. She graduated from Fayetteville high school in 1959 and West Virginia Institute of Technology with a BA in Accounting in 1984. She was preceded in death by her first husband Rawell O. Pieper. She met J. Wayne Hart at her employer, Multi-Cap, in 1994 and they married December 11, 2007. Laura loved cooking, gardening, reading, playing games, cross word puzzles and Facebook, but most of all her family and friends. Laura had a diverse career. She worked in the food service business – she worked as a cook, waitress, the high school “milk shake lady”, substitute teacher, supervisor of training for a restaurant chain, and head of food services for The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. After going back to school and completing her Accounting degree she opened and ran her own accounting firm in Gauley Bridge, WV, Pieper & Wills Associates. She sold her business and moved to St. Albans, WV in 1994 to work for Mutli-Cap where she retired in 2001. Laura is survived by her husband J. Wayne Hart. She enjoyed a large family including; four children: Jennifer Pieper (significant other Bruce Krise), Randy Pieper (wife Anne), Larry Pieper (wife Colette), Debbie Carpenter-Hart. She loved her grand-children: Brandon Smith (deceased) and his daughter Ava Grace, Sharice and Sean Hanson and their son Dylan, Jillian Nixon, Maclay Pieper, Katie Pieper and Kevin Abt, Becky and John Stratton and their children James and Amanda, Sarah Slazer and her children Linden and Nate, Kiera Pieper, Cassie Carpenter and Quentin Davis and their daughter Kaleighsia and Ben Carpenter and his daughter Piper. Laura was preceded in death by her mother Alice Samsel Carte, her father, Lissie M. Carte and a special mother –in-law Dorothy Hart Becker. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home 110 B. Street St. Albans, West Virginia 25177. Grave side service will be held 11:00 a.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Mt. Zion Cemetery Thomas Ridge Road, Leon West Virginia.
