Margaret Ann Walker

Our dear mother, Margaret Ann Walker, sadly passed away at the age of 93 after a short illness in Piedmont Medical Center, Fort Mill, SC on September 25, 2023. She was a true matriarch of our family and was always there when needed.

Margaret retired as Benefit Coordinator of Charleston Area Medical Center after more than 30 years of service. She lived in South Charleston for the last 38 years in Jefferson Park until recently joining her son, Gary and daughter in law, Janet in Rock Hill, SC.

Margaret's favorite hobbies were her indoor and outdoor flowers, traveling,reading, shopping and listening to music. She was a proud lady that always looked her best. A special thanks to Chet and Chis, her hairdressers, for over 20 years.

Preceded in death by her father Samuel Gillispie, mother Effie (Reveal) of Charleston WV, sister, Rose Marie Clinton (Darrel) of Michigan, brothers Melvin Gillispie of Dunbar WV and David Gillespie (Roxie) of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She is survived by her beloved sons and daughter in law. Dan of Cross Lanes, Michael of Rock Hill, SC and Gary (Janet) of Rock Hill, SC.

Sister Barbara Walker (late brother in law, Tug) of Dunbar, brother Harold Gillispie (later sister in law, Jean) of Dunbar, sister in law Anna Gillispie (late brother, Melvin) of Florida.

Granddaughters, Lori Fisher (Kenny) of Fletcher, NC, and Michelle Ellis of South Charleston, Grandson, Kelly Keene (Melissa) of Charleston. Great-grandsons, Nathan, Cody, Matthew, Drake and Aidan. Great-granddaughters, Kelsey and Lola. Her three grand cats, Sylvie,Callie and Sammie.

Our sadness cannot be explained but we feel honored to have had her for so many precious years.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday, September 29, for family members at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
