On May 9, Marietta Catherine (Eby) Fenton passed away to be with the Lord after experiencing complications that her grand old age of 98 couldn’t overcome. Preceded in death by her husband Bob, she is survived by her 3 children, Richard Fenton (wife Laura) of Cross Lanes, Patti Hammond (husband Greg) of Teays Valley, and Tom Fenton of Blythewood SC. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Tara Canfield (husband Ryan), Drew Fenton, Chelsie Kelly (husband Jeffrey), and Lindsay Hammond, as well as 4 great granddaughters Reese, Heidi, Lexi, and Blakely. Born and raised in Monroe, Michigan – she (along with her husband Bob) lived in several places including Toledo, OH, Modesto CA, Deltona FL. But the place most endearing to her, in which she raised her kids and chose to live out her remaining years was Charleston, WV.
Marietta lived a full life that included being a loving wife & mother, Registered Nurse, Volunteer activities in local and state Garden Clubs. In her retirement, she travelled and spent as much quality time as she could with her family and friends. Aside from her family, her greatest legacy was her talent for creating scrapbooks for her family that will cement memories of her and her loved ones’ lives for time immemorial. Her humility towards life provided her with patience, understanding, and acceptance for all the challenges she faced. It allowed her to adapt to the changes in life that all of us face. She was sharp of mind to the end. In the last several years of her life, she gained especial joy from adorning her hallway and apartment with decorations specific to the occasion; and took much joy in dressing up for Halloween.
A visitation will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Wednesday May 14 at 11:00. A mass will be held following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Blessed Sacrament Garden Fund.
Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.tylermountainfuneralhome.com.
