

Oscar H. Faulkner at the age of 82, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on October 19, 2023. Harrison was born in St. Albans on December 3, 1940. He was educated in Kanawha County schools and graduated for its high school and WV State University College.
As a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church, he served on the Deacon Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, Bible Bowl, member of the Male Chorus, driver for the Sunday school, President of Bible School and volunteer janitor.
Work History: substitute teacher in the public schools, Montross Chemical Plant and Textile Fiber Plant in Nitro, Dunbar Teen Correctional Center, Children Home Society, and Professor of Photography at WV State University College; on the board of Dunbar Lions Club, volunteer at Christ Kitchen as a cook, Tri-State Race Track & Games Center and worked and served on the Board for A.C.I. L.
Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martha Faulkner; brothers and sisters, Russell, Janie, Joe, Myrtle, Robert, Barbara, Andrea and Linda.
Harrison leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Edith “Edie” J. Faulkner; sister, Dorita; children, Laura “LaLa” Panell, Robert “Bobby” F. Faulkner (Lauren); grandchildren, Anthony, Arryson, Rain, Zyan, Tyler, Malik, Addison, Avery, Thomas and Raiden; great-grandchildren, Aunalysia, Nova Rose, Luke and Alexis Jade; sister and brother-in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Tyler Mountain Funeral Home and St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Our loss was made a little easier with the support we have received. The Scripture tells us “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.” God will comfort each of us during this period of our darkest hour. We only look to him, for in God’s spirit lies our strength.
