

Bob was born on November 17, 1934 in Boone County, WV. He is the youngest son of the late Earl Henry Workman and Bernice Miller Workman. Bob graduated from Scott High School, where he enjoyed playing football. He then went on to join the United States Navy. During his military tenure, he met his future wife, Ellen Josephine Devlin. They had a family of four children, who Bob referred to as “his girls”. Bob was employed by Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation in Ravenswood, WV for 30 years. He worked in various departments in the plant and retired as General Foreman.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He instilled many strong values and virtues in his children. Bob enjoyed cooking for his family, following his mother’s favorite recipes. He especially loved the holidays when the entire family was together. Bob spent a lot of time at Myrtle Beach, SC, where he was an avid golfer and loved to brag about hitting a hole-in-one. He enjoyed boating with friends and family on the Ohio River, water skiing, gardening, shooting pool, and he had a passion for cars. Bob was a man of strong character.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 9 years and mother of his children, Ellen Josephine Devlin Workman; his wife of 13 years, Delores (Doris) Hammonds Pritt Workman; his daughter, Sue Ann Workman; his granddaughter, Michelle Leigh Paxton; his brothers, Earl H. Workman and William (Bill) E. Workman; his sisters, Betty J. Beulike and Judith H. Miller; and his beloved pet dog, Lucy.
He is survived by daughters Connie Paxton (Jim) of Culloden, WV; Debi Waugh (John) of Charleston WV; Darlene Blackhurst of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren Matt Paxton (Tonya), Sarah Taylor (Clay), Amber Hamrick and Johnna Waugh; great grandchildren Dru Hamrick, Zoh Hamrick, Madilyn Paxton, Clara Taylor and Brody Taylor; his sister, Roberta Stuck; and his sister-in-law, Janie Workman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the love and care given to Bob by the staff at Hubbard Hospice House and for the visits and prayers from family and friends.
A respectful celebration of life will be held for Bob at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lanes, WV on September 9, 2023 date at 12:00 P.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow the service at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
In leu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston WV 25311.
