August 5, 1956 – February 14, 2026
Romie Nelson Mundy, 69, entered Heaven on February 14, 2026. He was the son of Roy Wilson Mundy and Ferrell Sayre Mundy, who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Susan; his son, Romie Mundy II of Haverhill, MA; his daughters, Kate Willetts of Bellefontaine, OH, and Erin Harper of Hurricane, WV; and their loving spouses, Shelby Mundy, Josh Willetts, and Brandon Harper. He was the proud grandfather of six grandsons and four granddaughters: Harper, Sullivan, Cooper, and Angelina Mundy; Karis, Judah, Hudson, and Asher Willetts; and Graham and Ila Harper — with a seventh grandson expected in July. He also leaves behind three grandchildren in Heaven, his brother Roy Mundy (Karen) of Lexington, KY, four nephews, and one niece.
Romie was a 1974 graduate of Dunbar High School and a 1981 graduate of Appalachian Bible College in Beckley, WV. Following graduation, he began his career with WV American Water Company in Huntington, WV. Over the years, he served in human resources and risk management and later managed the Central Division in Weston, WV. He continued his career in Charleston before returning to Huntington, where he finished his time with the company as manager in 2010.
During those years, Romie earned a BA in Business Accounting from Fairmont State University, an MBA from WV Wesleyan College, and an MA in Industrial Relations from Marshall University.
In 2010, he became the Business Manager at Bible Center Church in Charleston, where he faithfully served until his retirement in December 2025.
Romie loved God, His Word, Susan, his children and grandchildren, his friends, college football, and golf — even if most of his golfing was done over the phone, often asking Susan to “wait just a minute” while he finished his putt. He faithfully served on the board of Appalachian Bible College and deeply valued Christian education and ministry.
Words cannot fully express his love and care for his family. While we are heartbroken by our loss, we rejoice in the hope of eternal life and the promise of seeing him again in Heaven.
Celebration of Romie’s life will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 20, 2026 at Bible Center Church with Pastors Joshua Willetts and Brandon Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the church.
