

Ruby Mae Groves 87 of Cross Lanes passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at Eldercare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Preceding her in death were her parents Henry and Freda Westfall, husband, Dewey Groves, son’s David and Michael Groves and also her brothers Virgil and Charles Westfall. Surviving include daughter’s Donna Groves Cochran (Bernard) of St. Albans and Barbara Groves Miller (Dennis) of NC, Brother Earl Westfall (Patsy), Sister’s Audra of Palestine, WV, Ruth Cunningham (Frank) of Nitro, Patsy Westfall Williams (Jack) of Cross Lanes and Peggy Sims (Mack) of Nitro, three Grandchildren Lisa McIntosh George, Michael Wiblin and Little Dewey Groves also surviving are six Great Grandchildren. Ruby attended Community Chapel Church in Cross Lanes where she enjoyed belonging to the Women’s Quilting Club. She loved her puppies Sammi and Lil Ben and gardening and yard sales and her flowers. When she moved into the nursing home she left behind over 1000 sets of dish towels and she embroidered and crocheted each one, she also had an extensive collection of frogs and thimbles from around the world. The family would like to give a special thank you to Eldercare of Ripley and Hospice.
The Family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home 5233 Rocky Fork Rd. Cross Lanes, WV services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Holstein officiating interment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
