

Samantha Edwina (Tope) Adams, 48, of Cross Lanes, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, May 8, 2017. Sam was born October 11, 1968 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After the age of two, she lived her whole life in Kanawha County. She was a 1987 graduate of St. Albans High School and attended West Virginia Career College. Sam was a cook and worked for Tudor’s, Diehl’s, Kanawha County Schools and most recently the Tiger Morton Juvenile Center. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Tope, paternal grandparents, Bill and Ruth Tope, maternal grandfather, Ernest Chester, maternal step-grandfather, Bill Robinson and her first husband, Lawrence E. Sayre II. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Scott, who made her last years so happy; her beloved dogs, Allie and Sami; mother, Paula Tope of Alexandria, Virginia; maternal grandmother, Pauline Robinson of St. Augustine, Florida; stepson, Lawrence E. “Bud” Sayre III of Charleston; grandsons, Brooklyn Sayre and Christopher Banks of Nitro; sister, Amanda (Tim) Parsons of Dunbar; stepsisters, Judy (John) Green of Nitro, Regina (Curtis) Rusnak of South Charleston and Alicia (Charlie) Newman of Sissonville; special nephews, William and Walker Parsons; stepbrother, Bub (Tammy) Talbert of Pineville; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. A celebration of Sam’s life will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2017 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans with Rev. Bobby McWhirter officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
