Tracey Renee Hackworth Edelen, 49, of Longs SC, formerly of Dunbar WV, left this life to be with her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and aunt.
Tracey was preceded by her mother, Sharon Hackworth, stepmother Sandra Hackworth, and uncle James Radford. She is survived by her husband Joshua Edelen; son Dylan Humphreys; her father, Larry Hackworth; mother-in-law Arlene Edelen; sisters Jeannie (Aaron) Mills and Rebecca (Ben) DeVries; aunts Deborah (Richard) Frontz and Judith Radford; uncle Bernard (Sharon) Radford; nephews Andrew (Emily) Stover, Alec (Sarah) Stover, and Joshua Mills; nieces Allison (Austin) Gessel, Kathryn Stover and Mallory Stover.
Tracey was born in South Charleston, WV on October 2, 1974, the second daughter to Larry and Sharon Hackworth. She grew up in Cross Lanes, graduating from Nitro High School in 1993. Following in her Aunt Debbie’s footsteps, she went on to beauty school and became a cosmetologist. She loved her time doing hair, making lifelong friends with her co-workers and clients alike. In 2015 Tracey moved to Longs, SC to be near her parents. Once there, she decided that she would like to pursue a career in nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing in May 2022 while working full time and being a devoted wife and mother. Her dedication to caring for others also led to her decision to be an organ donor.
Besides her love of doing hair, Tracey also inherited her aunt’s love for cats and adopted her fist kitten as soon as she moved out on her own, and has adopted several others over the years. She also enjoyed being around water, and loved going to the beach and the pool. You could most likely find Tracey at her neighborhood pool during her free time. She also loved going on cruises with her husband Josh and looked forward to going on these trips together as often as they could.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on May 17, 2024 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lanes, WV in the West Virginia Mausoleum located in the back of the property. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
