Eugene V. Pizzo

Eugene V. Pizzo, 93, of The Villages, FL passed away on November 12, 2014. He was born on August 3, 1921 to Vincent and Elisa Pizzo in the Bronx, NY. Gene served in the United States Army during WWII. He was wounded in Normandy and received a Purple Heart. He was also awarded a Bronze Star by the Army for his service during WWII. He married Mary Ann Bakowski in 1950, they were happily married for 64 years. Gene worked for the Department of Defense as a Quality Assurance Inspector for 37 years. Following his retirement he served as NYS Building Inspector for Sag Harbor, NY. Gene is survived by his beloved wife Mary Ann Pizzo of The Villages, FL, cherished children Victoria Hazel of New Paltz, NY, Regina Pinto Robert of Southbury, CT, and Eugene Pizzo of Canton, CT, adored grandchildren Jeffery, Matthew, Vanessa, Nicholas and Robert, and great grandchildren Sarah Gordon and Sophia Hazel. Eugene was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 17, 10 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, Croton-on-Hudson, NY with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY.
