June 13, 1936 – January 8, 2021
Jack passed peacefully after a number of recent health challenges and complications from COVID – 19.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary, a retired RN now living back in Westchester near their children, MaryJean Staudohar (Keith), John (Laura), and Ray. He is s also survived by his younger siblings’ Brother Stephen Olert and sister Geri Ann Dunne. He adored his six grandchildren, Christine, JT, Kaitlyn, Derek, Dylan, and Kahley.
He lived his dream of retiring after 28 years with the NYPD by moving to FL where they joined many friends from the Westchester and NYC area. He became active with Moose Lodge Chapter 1765 ultimately serving as President. He retired as a Sergeant and spent most of his NYPD years in the Bronx. As a Detective he served in Midtown ballistics where he would take his sons for part of Thanksgiving Day to be with his partners and learn about the NYPD family.
In his over 20 years in living in Westchester, Jack was active in the community. Serving with the Continental Village Volunteer Fire Department as well as Cortlandt Youth sports as a coach and booster. He was also instrumental in having fields developed in the northern part of Cortlandt including the field at St. Columbanus and the first field lights that went in at Walter Panas High School.
Given current conditions we will wait to have a broader mass and gathering once restrictions are lifted.
