Marie-France Francillon, a resident of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on May 27, 2022. She was sixty years of age. Marie-France was born on September 3, 1961 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Nevers and Jeanine Francillon. Marie-France was a fine volleyball player during her youth in Haiti and played for the Haitian national team prior to her departing the island to attend university. She moved to New York City for college and was a resident of New York from that time forward. Marie-France attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1985 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1991, with both degrees from the City University of New York. After attaining her degree in Nursing, Marie-France worked the remainder of her career for the New York City Department of Health, eventually rising to the position of Manhattan Borough Nursing Director for the Department of School Health in the city. She moved with her family from Manhattan to Croton-on-Hudson in 1999 and resided in the village from that time up until her passing. During her life, Marie-France was an avid lover of music, art and fashion. She is survived by her husband, John Gilman and her two children, Alain Leveque and Arielle Gilman.
Visitation will be scheduled for Friday, June 3rd from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Saturday, June 4th at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 110 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Marie-France’s family asks that everyone wishing to attend to be vaccinated against Covid. After the funeral there will be a repass for Marie-France held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2021 Albany Post Road, Croton on Hudson, NY, 10520.
