Mary Frances Schell

Mary Frances Schell, resident of Croton-on-Hudson N.Y. passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2025. She was 100 years old. Mary was born on June 4,1924 in New York, New York to the late Patrick Henry and Mary Ann (nee Sloane) Reilly.

Mary Frances Reilly married William Robert Schell on January 22, 1949. They had seven children which they raised in the Bronx, New York. Mary worked while she was raising her children for the AP Corporation and Southland Corporation which she retired from in 1984. In 1985, after many years living in the Bronx, Mary and Bill moved to Cortlandt Manor, New York. They joined the senior citizens club, which they enjoyed. Mary also volunteered at The Church of the Holy Spirit and Hudson Valley Hospital.

Mary is survived by her children Marianne Kid (Stan), William Schell (Kathy), Michael Schell, Eileen Benkovic (Jim), Denise Schell, Christopher Schell (Lillie Mascia), and son-in-law Richard Gallo. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jason Gallo (Kim), Richard Gallo (Crystal), MaryKay Erazo (Dave), Michael Kid (Heather), Angela Scozzafava (Louis), William Schell, Katie Keillor (Willie), Laura Marino (Joe), Christine Benkovic, and Justin Benkovic (Erin Dyer). Mary also leaves behind 23 great-grandchildren.

Mary is predeceased by her husband Bill, her daughter Jackie, and her siblings, Harry, Patrick, and Anna.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th from 2-6pm at Edward F Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, February 27th at 10:15am at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1969 Crompond Rd, Cortlandt, NY 10567. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 1055 Oregon Rd., Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567.
