Patricia A. Matero, a lifelong resident of Croton-on-Hudson & Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away from Covid complications and long-term illness at Briarcliff Manor Nursing & Rehab Center on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Pat was born on December 14, 1944, as the first daughter to the late Mary Elsie & Vincent A. Matero, also formerly of Croton-on-Hudson. For the most part, Patricia dedicated her life to the field of nursing and extended compassionate care to her patients at Phelps Memorial Hospital, the New York School for the Deaf in White Plains, and several pediatric practices in Westchester County and Long Island, NY and until she retired as a Medications Nurse from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility For Women in Bedford Hills, NY. Pat, in fact, did leave nursing for several years to pursue her interest in lighting design and was employed as Showroom Manager and Lighting Expert/Designer at Garfield Wohler Lighting Design Studio in White Plains, a position of which she was very proud. Pat is survived by her only sibling, Barbara Matero Boulanger of Armonk, NY and her only niece, Genevieve Boulanger of Greenwich, CT, both of whom will miss her very much. Pat is also survived by many cousins in the Croton-Harmon area. Always an animal lover and especially before becoming a nurse, Pat found and cared for feral cats and dogs and “all things wild” finding them good homes, while providing the most loving care to each.
As per her wishes, Pat was cremated and there were no calling hours, however, a memorial service will be held for Patricia at Bethel Cemetery on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:30 AM, where she will be buried with her parents.
