Fr. Brian C. Brennan, a priest of the Archdiocese of New York, was born to Peter and Helen (Said) Brennan in New Rochelle, NY on September 30, 1948, where he attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and high school. After serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, he graduated from Cathedral College in Douglaston on Long Island in 1975 and then went to St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY and was ordained to the priesthood at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on November 3, 1979. He served in several parishes, first on Staten Island and then in Westchester and at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He was pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac for 12 years before being assigned as pastor of Holy Name of Mary Church in Croton-on-Hudson. In both of his pastorates he was loved for his compassion, witty homilies and sense of humor. His parents, Peter and Helen Brennan predeceased him. He is survived by the Community of Emmanuel, his seminary classmates and the parishioners of Holy Name of Mary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either St. John the Evangelist Church or Holy Name of Mary Church.
