

Thomas Alan Ferguson, Sr., a lifelong resident of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, passed away peacefully. Born on September 21, 1947, in Ossining, NY, he was the beloved son of the late Robert F. and Eleanor Veronica (nee Kopp) Ferguson.
A proud graduate of Croton High School, Thomas honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, completing two tours in Vietnam. After his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to the Village of Croton Water Department, retiring as Water Department Foreman. Following retirement, Thomas fulfilled a lifelong dream by working for the Green Bay Packers, a reflection of his enduring passion for football.
Thomas was a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees, a devoted member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 49, and a lover of music, especially ’60s rock and heavy metal. He had a passion for fitness, particularly weightlifting, and was known for his humor, friendliness, strong work ethic, and his unique ability to know everyone in town—earning him the affectionate nickname, “The General.”
A devoted family man, Thomas cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children, James E. Ferguson and his wife Rebecca, and Dawn Ferguson-Barkoe and her husband Sebastian; his grandchildren, Christopher Rinaldi, Alyssa Colandro, Madeline Ferguson, Thomas Ferguson, Charles Ferguson, and Andrew Ferguson; and his great-granddaughters, Makenna and Ava. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, JoAnne Marie Ferguson, in 2017 and son, Thomas Alan Ferguson, Jr. in 1972.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 4:00–6:30 pm at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Funeral services will follow at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
Thomas will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service to his country, his infectious humor, and his lifelong commitment to his community. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him.
