Tony Maicher, age 87, of Dyer, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2017 at his residence. Tony was born March 17, 1930 in East Chicago, Indiana tothe late Vendel and Sophie Maicher. Also preceding him in death are his wife, Donna (nee Cubranich)Maicher; brothers, Joe, Ignatius, Rudy, Vendel, Carl, and Adam Maicher; sisters, Ann Matusek and Sophie Mosora.Survived by son, Mark Maicher; sister, Mildred (Bob) Blandford; sister in laws, Marge Maicher, Connie Maicher, Jo Ann Tull and Mary Ann Elliot; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Maicher honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Tony retired as a building inspector from Inland Steel after more than 40 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Dyer, and former member of St. Thomas Moore of Munster, where he was a joyful choir member for both parishes. Tony achieved 3rd degree in the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Maicher served on the Board of Directors of the Share Foundation for many years, where
he was a founding member. In 1985, he was named the Father of the Year by the Apostolate for the Handicapped. In the 1970's he was also an active volunteer for Harbor House in East Chicago for homeless men, and was active in the prison ministry. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, December 18, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church (440 JolietSt.; Dyer, Indiana 46311) with Fr. Dennis Blaney officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at the church. Memorials may
