Grandma, 
You always made me feel so loved when I was with you. Whether it was making something to eat that you knew I liked, spending the day with me watching Highway to Heaven or just talking on the porch by your flowers. I'm so blessed to have you as my grandma and that my boys were able to spend time with you and feel the same love I always did. You are so loved and Lord knows we will miss you but we'll see you again in heaven. Love you always! 

I loved being around Mrs. Smedley.  She was the most Christlike woman I ever met.  She always offered an encouraging word and warm smile. She made me feel welcome in her home and fed me many times.  My favorite thing she served was her homemade fudge. I loved to hear her laugh and talk about her relationship with the Lord.  

She is leaving behind a legacy that is unmatched. I strive to be a Godly woman like her.

To Missy and the rest of the family, you have my deepest condolences.

I loved that every Saterday night when my best friend would spend the night that Grandma would make fudge. She would make a little more than usual and give us our own plate to share because her fudge didn’t last very long. If any of her Adult children stopped by it was gone. Everyone loved it and her homemade donuts too. She made everything with love.

Opal Smedley, age 90, of Lafayette, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2018.  
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill & Mandy Stamper; husband, J.D. Smedley; daughter, Judie Rhodes; and a grandson Joey Saksa.
Opal is survived by her children, James Jr., Tom (JoAnn), Bill (Jamie), Dave, Brian Smedley, Barb Harrison, Amanda (Bob) Saksa and Melissa (Deron) White; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
