He was born on July 15, 1924 in Busca, Hungary to Mihaly and Maria (Giricz) Farkas. He married Gizella Koczka on March 17, 1951. He was a well-read, sharp-minded, hardworking man with a tremendous sense of humor and a deep love for his close knit family. He was a special uncle, and was loved by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gizella; his son, John (Martine); his grandson, Patrick; his sisters-in-law, Zsuzsanna and Emilia; and many nephews and nieces both in Hungary and the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and five sisters.
