Helen C. Tipps

She was born April 25, 1930 in Melrose Park to John and Catherine (O’Leary) Halford. On May 12, 1951 she married Russell Tipps at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake.

Helen was a lifelong resident of Crystal Lake. She worked at Autotrol for many years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge. She loved to play Bingo. The two places she played most often were at Marian Central and the McHenry VFW.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Carole) Tipps, Jeffery (Judi) Tipps, Michelle Kussin, and Randy (Lynn) Tipps; her grandchildren, Casey Tipps, Gus (Vanessa) Tipps, C.J. Tipps, Keeley Tipps, Jeff (Nichole) Tipps, Jodi (Adam) Burkel, Carrie (Dan) Mecum, Robert Kussin III, Brett Kussin, Brandon Sleesman, and Emily Tipps; great-grandchildren, Haden and Avery Tipps, Jacob, Michael, and Madison Tipps, Brooklyn Burkel, Gabriel Kussin-Baros and Levi Mecum; and her sister Sue (James) Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents; her brothers, Gerald McNichol and Norman Halford; and her sister Elizabeth Sepanek.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Monday, January 20, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The service will be at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 21, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
