Robert Lewis Hammerstone Sr.

He was born on July 11, 1943 in Chicago, IL to Leonard and Harriet (Johnson) Hammerstone. On November 26, 1966, he married the late Judith Nelson in Algonquin, IL.

He moved from Chicago to Crystal Lake as a teenager, and lived in Crystal Lake before moving to Mississippi about a year ago. He worked for Rite Landscaping Service, Alexander Lumber, Edward Hines Lumber, and Atec Ambulance Services. He enjoyed square dancing and was a square dance caller for many years. He was active in The Orchard Church in McHenry, IL and Life Fellowship Church in Southaven, MS.

He is survived by his children Robert (Kathleen) Jr. and Kristin (Brett) Schweigert; his grandchildren, Alia, Nathan, Zoe, and Haley Hammerstone, Justin, Jason, and Kaitlin Schweigert; his sisters, Arlene Lundy and Alice (Delbert) Disch; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith, his parents, and his brother, Ronald Hammerstone.

A memorial service will be at 7pm on Sunday, June 3 at Mullins Methodist Church, 4 North Mendenhall Road, Memphis, TN. Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 7 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue from 10am to 11am on Friday, June 8 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 11am. Interment will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
