A lifelong reader, card shark, and sports fan who loved nothing more than to spend time with her grandchildren and host large family dinners was born September 6, 1934 to Cyril and Eleanor Roth. She was raised in Chicago Illinois with her 4 siblings; Cyril Roth, Connie Mackenzie, Dorothy Shogren, and infant sister Jeanine.
Sue worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company in their finance and payroll department. She truly enjoyed the relationships she built over her 35-year career at Sears and was known for the compassion and support she showed others when she retired. In her later years she kept busy as a bookkeeper for Crystal Lake Union Cemetery, front office admin for St. Thomas the Apostle Church, and always found time to volunteer. Sue supported her community providing communion to home bound members of her Church, working at food pantries, and volunteering at events for the Crystal Lake Lions Club. She cherished the friendships she made throughout the community and will be remembered by so many for her support and involvement during her 56 years of residency in Crystal Lake.
Her husband Al Kiermas passed away in 1982. She leaves behind her 8 children: Karl (Christine) Kiermas, Doug (Gretchen) Funk, Edward (Laura) Funk, Carole (Bill) Gleason, Kirk (Jane) Kiermas, Terry (George) Wenzel, Michael (Karen) Funk, and Randy Funk. She has 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way. She will be remembered by them all as their Sue Sue, the mother and grandmother that was always there to listen.
