Terrence “Terry” Gerard Crimmens, age 76, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 17, 2026, at Hillcrest Nursing Center in Round Lake Beach, Illinois, surrounded by his family, compassionate caregivers, and hospice team, after a long battle with an infection.
Born on April 18, 1949, Terry grew up in Rochester, New York, and later moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois, where he met the love of his life, Sharon J. Crimmens, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Terry loved his family and friends, his pets Casper and Baxter, golf, and—most of all—cars.
Terry proudly served in the Army National Guard, where he was honorably discharged after six years of service from 1971 to 1976.
Terry built his career as a car salesman, beginning at Barrington Volvo in Barrington, Illinois, but spent the majority of his career at Pauley Toyota in Crystal Lake. Fondly known by many as “Terry Toyota,” he had a lifelong passion for automobiles and enjoyed talking about cars with anyone who would listen, even in his final days.
Terry is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon J. Crimmens of Crystal Lake, Illinois; his stepson, Richard Dale (Erika) Hering of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; his stepdaughter, Kimberly Hering-Mueller (Greg) of Spring Grove, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Francis Crimmens of Truckee, California, and his sister, Charleen DeWindt of Pittsford, New York.
In keeping with Terry’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the care team at Hillcrest Nursing Center for their compassion and dedication, as well as the Suncrest Hospice Team for their support during Terry’s final days.
Terry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
