Found Heavenly peace with her family by her side on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Frank L. Chovanec. Loving mom of Cheryl (Anthony) Day, Lynn (Ronald) Damitz, James (Mary) Chovanec, and Gail (Timothy) Galaska. Proud grandma of Rebecca (Joshua) Olson, Marcus (Sarah) Day, Benjamin (Fiance' Rachel Wileman) Galaska, Andrea (Timothy) Liegler, Gina Damitz, Alisa Damitz, Nicholas Chovanec, and Jack Chovanec. Dear great-grandma of Josilyn, Kinsley, Kaylee, Dominic, Olivia, Sophia, and Amelia. Proceded in death by brother Herbert Schwalbach and sisters Ruth Willms and Janet McClay. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty Jean was active in the Historical Societies of Cudahy, Bay View, and South Milwaukee. She was instrumental in getting the immigration statue erected at the Cudahy Historical Society. She was also an active member with the BPWA, the South Shore YMCA, Friends of Cudahy Library, and the Christian Ladies Guild at Nativity of the Lord. Visitation at the funeral home on Friday, April 12, from 4-8PM. Visitation also at church on Saturday, from 9-10:45AM. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, April 13, 11AM, Nativity of Lord Church, 3672 E. Plankinton Ave., Cudahy. Entombment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Friends of Cudahy Library or the Cudahy Historical Society are appreciated.
