Me Maw was the BEST! Kind, loving, caring, and compassionate to all. She will be missed much, but im glad she is now able to watch over me :)

We feel it too often over the span of time, but there are those  people that we know are a special link in our lives, and their loss hits us the most deeply.  Though Annie is  gone, she leaves the link with us to keep our chain from falling apart.  This tiny woman leaves us with  a vast empty space that through the years will once again be filled with bountiful memories that are the tapestry of my life and the lives of my siblings. 

Annie's father, Albert Mahler, Sr.,  and my father, John Leuenberger, Sr.,   were first cousins. There were more like brothers than cousins.  When our families got together you could feel the love that they had for each other.  This is the legacy Annie has passed on to her decedents.  

Annie spent many days at our farm on the east side of town on Convent Road helping my mother sew for my sisters and me and also she would help to quilt.  One spring day in 1936 when I was five she came to the farm all excited and announced that she was engaged to be married.   His name was Leo Friedrich!

Over the last twenty years when I visited Cullman from my home in Akron, Ohio, I spent many hours at her kitchen table with her and her son Albert sharing our common family heritage.  Also I was privileged to become the owner of two of the lovely quilts she made.  When I visited with Annie in September 2011 with Clara, I felt deep in my heart that I was hugging her for the last time.  Her eyes were already turning heavenward.

Annie was the last leaf on the family tree.  
On May 12, 2012, God issued a decree
Come home my good and faithful servant
Join Albert and Minnie and all the leaves on their tree.

Requiescat in pace, Cousin Annie,
I will love you for all eternity.

May the Peace of the Lord be with this family!  I never met Ms. Friedrich, but feel that I knew her through Susie & B. J.  -- She was so lovingly & tenderly spoken of by all who knew her personally.  I will never forget Susie telling me that her mother wanted to go motor cycling with her son, but wasn't able -- and that was just in 2011!

We did nt know you well, but we remember your fun of life and your joy,  You are now if Heaven where God can rejoice in your spirit. Bob and Edith Byington

What a beautiful picture the family has chosen! I can hear her laughter! Aunt Annie's perseverance, her love for her children and their families, and her strong faith are truly an inspiration to us all. May her soul rest in peace.

I met Mrs. Friedrich over 40 years ago.  She was a hospitable woman and always made me feel at home when I was with her.  I offer sympathy to her entire family.  She will be missed by many.  Gail Pitts Faust

Loved God, loved her family, loved life. Perfect example of what a great mother should be. She was loved, touched everyone who met her, and will be missed by all who knew her. Proud to be part of her family.

I remember Annie out on the tractor, plowing the field and spraying the cotton--I can still smell the cotton spray in my mind. On the Fourth of July, she would hitch up Tiny, the huge draft horse, and take all the kids in the neighborhood for a wagon ride. Annie also hosted the very best parties, with a table spread that must have run 30 feet long, live music and dancing into the wee hours of the morning. Annie loved life, loved her children and pulled no punches, always forging ahead with determination and true grit. She was an inspiration to me that life is not a spectator sport, to define yourself on your own terms and not care overly much what others expect you to be. What a woman!

She lived a good life and has given life to 10 great children.  You all are in my prayers and thoughts.   Irene Mary Welch
